I had my GOES card so I was sure that I would zip through security making up for lost time caused by the closed skyway. I was wrong. TSA has the right to send you through regular security anytime they want and they did it to me that morning.
My flight into Hartford was a small commuter jet which departed from the C concourse. There is a tram at the entrance to D concourse that will take you to A, B and C concourses but that day it was out of commission. I had to hike to gate 22. At least the people movers were working.
One of the other technicians at work lived in Connecticut and he had a lot of good things to say about it, he would move back if he could. After driving to my destination I can see why. It's beautiful in the fall. Middletown is a picturesque small New England town. I was staying downtown at The Inn at Middletown . It's a very nice older hotel that has been well kept up. My room was large and the furnishings were nice. My only complaint about the hotel was parking. There was no parking at the hotel, their lot was two blocks away. The day I checked out I had to haul my suitcase two city blocks to put it in the car before I started class.
I had dinner at two good good restaurants while there. I had a steamed hamburger at Klampy's. It doesn't sound very appetizing but it was good. A also ate at Thai Gardens. It was recommended on Trip Advisor but I was worried that it was going to be mediocre. When the waitress took my order she never asked how spicy I wanted my food. Every good Thai restaurant asks for the level of spice you want. Once I got my meal I had to ask for chopsticks. Also not a good indicator but my Pad Thai was some of the best I've eaten.
I hit a little rush hour traffic on the way back to the airport but made it plenty of time to catch my flight back home.
