My flight into Chicago O’Hare departed Minneapolis at 10 am, I picked up my rental car and was at the hotel by noon. I like Hilton Garden Inns, the rooms are large and well kept up, they have a store next to the front desk where you can buy snacks and other miscellaneous items that you may have forgotten when packing. I had a seminar at this hotel last year and liked it so I came back this year. My seminar was in Lindbergh B. The room was good sized, I could fit 12 students and all of my equipment easily into the room.
Since I was here last year a casino had been built just down the road. I walked to the casino one night with Kendall who had come down to video the seminar. We ate at Hugo’s Frog Bar and Chop House. The waiter was very professional, we were obviously not going to buy the $120 steak but he treated us like we were, he brought out a platter with a selection of their steaks and a two pound lobster tail. I had a burger and Kendall had fillet mignon sliders. I dropped $40 on slots and Kendall lost $20 and we decided to go back to the HGI.
It speaks volumes about a hotel when the technicians at the seminar notice how good the banquet people are. I got several comments from the technicians that the banquet people made them feel like they were in a high priced steak house rather than the Hilton Garden Inn.
